Congratulations to Firefighter/EMT Andrew Lauricella on his recent promotion to Firefighter 2nd Class. FF Lauricella began his career with West  Manatee Fire Rescue in 2006 as a volunteer, but that was not his first experience with the fire service. Firefighting has been a way of life for the Lauricella family for more than 30 years. Andrew's father has served as firefighter on Long Island for 32 years.  His older brother and brother-in-law are also firefighters on Long Island.  Andrew's twin brother Chris is a firefighter here locally. He currently works for the City of St. Petersburg F.D. and is assigned to St. 9.

After moving to Florida, Andrew and Chris joined the St. Petersburg  Fire Explorers Post at age 14. They trained along side the career firefighters and learned a lot about the dynamic of life in the fire house. In 2006 they headed south to Manatee county and joined West Manatee Fire and Rescue's Reserve Firefighter Program.  In 2008, Andrew achieved his goal of becoming a career firefighter and was hired with the district. His current duty assignment is St #4 on "B" shift. He also serves on the Urban Search and Rescue team, Honor Guard Squad and Bike Rescue team.  He is truly an asset to the district.

Please take a minute and congratulate him on his dedication and hard work.
