Fire at the Waterfront Restaurant
West Manatee (WMFR) fire investigators and the State Fire Marshal’s office (SFMO) have determined that the fire at the Waterfront Restaurant was incendiary in nature. WMFR units responded to the fire at 5:03 a.m. on March 18, 2004 The first unit arriving on scene found fire in the storage and rear areas of the establishment. The fire spread into the seating area of the restaurant before it was extinguished. Damage was estimated during the initial investigation to between $75,000 and $100,000
WMFR and the SFMO began investigating immediately. The investigation is continuing. Information obtained during the investigation has led investigators to conclude that the cause of the fire is incendiary (intentionally set). Specific details of the investigation / cause will not be released until the investigation is concluded. Investigators hope to complete the investigation in the very near future.
